Hollywood Music Award winning and BAFTA nominated composer Inon Zur is internationally renowned for his emotionally dynamic orchestral music scores featured in film, television and interactive entertainment.
Most recently Zur composed, conducted and produced original orchestral themes for DISNEY FANTASIA: MUSIC EVOLVED, the breakthrough musical motion video game inspired by Walt Disney’s classic animated film “Fantasia.” Zur collaborated closely with Disney and Harmonix to produce innovative new recordings of classical symphonies by the great composers including Mussorgsky and Vivaldi. Zur recorded these classical pieces with the London Symphony Orchestra, The Academy of St. Martin in the Fields and the Chamber Orchestra of London at Abbey Road. He also produced and arranged the orchestral version of Queen’s iconic rock opera “Bohemian Rhapsody” for the game.
Classically trained with a flair for powerful, melodic orchestral writing, Zur’s rich portfolio includes epic action/adventure and fantasy scores for major video game franchises including PRINCE OF PERSIA, THE LORD OF THE RINGS (Classical MPR 2011 Best Video Game Soundtracks), DRAGON AGE (Hollywood Music Award Winner and Forbes’ “Top Ten Video Game Soundtracks of All Time”), EVERQUEST and FALLOUT, which earned him British Academy of Film and Television Arts and Spike TV nominations for “Best Original Music” (FALLOUT 3). Zur is also celebrated for his rousing action scores featured in CRYSIS, MEN OF VALOR, SHADOW OPS: RED MERCURY and SOCOM II: US NAVY SEALS. For television, Zur has scored a variety of drama, live action and animated series including GHOST WHISPERER: THE OTHER SIDE (CBS), IRON MAN (Marvel Kids), DIGIMON (ABC), STATE OF GRACE (FOX), ESCAFLOWNE (FOX) and POWER RANGERS (FOX). In film he scored the romantic comedies AU PAIR and AU PAIR 2.
Zur has conducted and recorded with numerous orchestras and ensembles including the Philharmonia Orchestra, Disney Chamber Ensemble, Hollywood Studio Symphony, Hollywood Orchestra and Choir, The Lyris Quartet, Seattle Symphony, Eblana Chamber Choir and Tel Aviv Symphony. Zur’s music has been performed in concerts worldwide (Leipzig, London, Los Angeles, Malmo, Seoul, Sydney) by top orchestras including the London Philharmonic Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall in London. He has also produced and collaborated with international recording artists including Idan Raichel and Florence + The Machine. Zur’s orchestral arrangement of Florence Welch’s “I’m Not Calling You A Liar” (DRAGON AGE II: “Varric’s Theme”) was nominated for Best Song In A Game at the Spike TV VGAs.
A graduate of the Music Academy of Tel Aviv in his native Israel, Zur relocated to the United States and attended the film scoring programs at Dick Grove School of Music and UCLA, studying under such luminaries as composers Henry Mancini and Allyn Ferguson and orchestrator Jack Smalley. Zur resides in Encino, California and is represented by COOL Music in London and Los Angeles.
