James Hannigan is a Bafta award-winning composer with credits in the multi-million selling Harry Potter, The Lord Of The Rings, Dead Space, Theme Park, Warhammer, Command & Conquer game series, and is Creative Director and Founder of hugely popular annual conference, Game Music Connect, backed by Sony, Bafta, Classic FM, COOL Music and others.
James’s evocative music can be heard in TV and Radio as well, ranging from Top Gear and BBC America’s Primeval to recent productions such as Neil Gaiman’s Neverwhere with Benedict Cumberbatch and James McAvoy (BBC Audio Drama Award winner, 2015) and Good Omens. James is currently engaged on a major drama belonging to a hugely popular sci-fi franchise, due to air in 2016.
A pioneer in the world of digitally recorded music for interactive entertainment and one of the first composers in Europe bringing the sound of a full symphony orchestra to video games, James’s credits include: Dead Space 3, Terraria: Otherworld, Transformers Universe, Runescape, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, Chris Roberts’ celebrated space sim Freelancer, Reign Of Fire, Evil Genius, EA Sports titles in the FIFA and F1 series, The Lord Of The Rings: Aragorn’s Quest, Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight, Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix, Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince, Red Alert 3*, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Parts 1 & 2 and many others.

Going back further, there’s Privateer: The Darkening (a ground-breaking blend of game and film loosely connected with the Wing Commander universe, with Clive Owen, Christopher Walken and John Hurt), Republic: The Revolution (Bafta Nomination, 2004), Bullfrog’s Theme Park World (Bafta Award, 2000), Theme Park Inc./Sim Coaster, Catwoman, Conquest, Cutthroat Island, Space Hulk, Grand Prix 4, Microsoft’s Brute Force, and many more.

You may have heard James’s work in trailers, cable TV shows and ads over the years as well, as hundreds of his tracks are spread throughout leading production libraries such as Extreme Music, Director’s Cuts, Chappell, BMG Universal and West One.
Hannigan has recorded with world-class orchestras such as The Chamber Orchestra of London (COOL), The Philharmonia, the Skywalker Symphony Orchestra and the Slovak National Symphony Orchestra at locations such as Abbey Road Studios, Skywalker Sound and Air Lyndhurst – yet it said that he is as happy twiddling his knobs in the studio as he is politely asking musicians to play his music out loud.
A regular interviewee for BBC Radio, Classic FM, Bafta Guru and others, Hannigan has had his music performed globally by Video Games Live, The Eminence Symphony Orchestra and numerous other ensembles around the world, and he’s been known to write using words as well – most recently for Classic FM.
